In the right place
Ultracardiac Ltd is a leading provider of ultrasound scans of the heart to both NHS and private patients. With a career history in numerous cardiology departments, Owner and Manager Sean Gundry, along with Co-Director and Former Commercial Bank Manager, Sarah Gundry, recognised a better way of managing the referral process, and so set about realising the improvements they knew they could make for patients in need.
In 2017 Ultracardiac Ltd was born, and since Sean and Sarah have exceeded even their own expectations, winning the contracts and the trust of local hospitals across Devon and Cornwall, along with the Integrated Care Boards responsible for the echoes within the GP network and various other private institutions. They’ve seen the business grow to nearly 20 staff, working from ten sites across the region, and this year brings another exciting opportunity as they develop their private offering in Cornwall to compliment the team’s existing private services in Plymouth and Exeter. Sarah explains: “We have been working closely with Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (Treliske) and the GP network for a couple of years now, supporting wait-list initiatives and ensuring patients receive the timely cardiac care they need. However, we have noticed a significant increase, particularly since Covid 19, of patients wanting to take more control over their health. By launching in Cornwall, we’re offering patients here that choice.”
Echocardiograms, along with electrocardiograms (ECGs), are a quick, cost-efficient and non-invasive way for clinicians to rule in (or, hopefully, out!) a number of cardiac conditions, and can often form the basis for further investigations. Ultracardiac specialises in these diagnostic services with a team of highly experienced and professionally accredited staff. Using software that’s cloud-based, all Echo reports can be shared with GPs, hospitals, or any other clinician in a patient’s care pathway, anywhere in the world. And whilst Ultracardiac receives a high number of referrals from various NHS sources, patients can now also self-refer, for any reason they’d like, without the need for a GP letter.
Whether you have a family history you’re concerned about, are hoping to avoid waiting lists, or simply want to achieve peace of mind, Ultracardiac Ltd remains true to the values that inspired the opening of the company back in 2017, ensuring that its services are both accessible and affordable for everyone.
