Joy in creativity
A creative space showcasing the talent of over 50 Cornish artists, Inspire Makers looks to share their passions with you.
With views to the river down Barracks Ope at the top of Falmouth’s historic Old High Street, Inspire Makers resides in the artisan quarter of the town’s collection of independent shops and restaurants. Featuring work from over 50 contemporary Cornish, design-led artists and craftspeople, a mix of well-established names and emerging talent find a home here in this creative hub. Each artist or maker represents a different style or technique within their craft to highlight the vast diversity of creative expression possible through the individual development and application of skills and use of materials. With a wide selection of high quality, locally produced jewellery, ceramics, textiles, art, stationery and homewares, it’s clear that talent abounds at Inspire Makers.
Now that the spring workshop schedule is in full swing, you can learn a new craft from the expert artists and makers whose fine work is featured in the shop. These small and friendly classes of four to six people are entirely introductory, so you don’t need any previous experience! Ranging from taster half days from £30 to £115 for a full day course in sea glass jewellery, the workshop programme offers a wide range of classes to inspire you to find your own creative path, welcoming you to the world of fused glass, jewellery making, book-binding, printing, painting and much more.
With a full programme of local artist exhibitions in the gallery space adjacent to the main shop, you can further immerse yourself in a world of creativity. Opening on 12th March with St Ives based Christine Brunnock’s Close to Source – a series of powerful seascapes – it continues throughout the year with a diverse range of original work on display, with some of the artists showing for the first time. All of the 2022 exhibitions are listed on the Inspire Makers website.
