Keeping things current

We meet husband and wife team, Keith and Amanda Rees-Murray, the pair behind fantastic local company, KRP Electrical LTD.

It all began 35 years ago when Keith undertook his City and Guilds Apprenticeship as an electrician. In 2002 he set up as a sole trader, concentrating on the maintenance of household and commercial electrics. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength.

“We like to find a balance between aesthetics, practicality and budget.”

Having lived in Cornwall since the age of four, Keith and Amanda (who moved here in 1988) have plenty of experience working within the wide range of buildings, old and new, that Cornwall is famous for. “Simply put, we’re problemsolvers,” says Keith. “ I like to think that we can take an electrical problem off our clients’ shoulders and resolve it with a solution whilst they get on with their day-to-day life.

“We like to plan with the end result in mind. For instance, we ask clients what their desired finish is. This could be a combination of factors, such as colour, furniture, floor texture. By having this information, we can tailor accessories and light fittings to enhance their decor. We like to find a balance between aesthetics, practicality and budget. We keep a room’s functionality at the forefront of what we do.” Keith tells us that LED lighting has an ever-increasing role in the work that is carried out. Did you know that by replacing your existing lighting systems with new LEDs, you can increase your lighting’s lifespan and efficiency? What’s more, the payback period can be as little as three years – impressive for such a minor change!

Amanda explains that Krp Electrical Ltd keeps up to date with new innovations in technology, styles and operating systems. This can maximise your space’s functionality and complement your unique style. The team also install efficient, quality brands of heating such as Rointe and Dimplex, to keep you cosy and to welcome you home.

When a job is not within the team’s area of expertise, the two are huge advocates of keeping things in Cornwall. “Take solar PVs for instance. A lot of companies that aren’t based here often take on jobs meaning the money doesn’t stay in county. By outsourcing the work to local contractors, we’re helping to boost the Cornish economy whilst supporting local trade, which is really important to us.”

So, if you are thinking of improving the way your home utilises energy in the colder months ahead, with over 30 years’ experience in the industry and a strong affinity for customer service, Krp Electrical Ltd could have the answer you’re looking for.
