Let’s get creative!

Engage your creative side this summer with a drop-in pottery painting session at Clayart, Plymouth.

Found on the historic Plymouth Barbican, Clayart is a charming pottery painting studio; a friendly hub for you and your children to explore and unlock your creativity, with a range of quality products designed to help you unleash your artistic side – a range that has only continued to get bigger since Nathasha and Zuzanna took over! Prior to her opportunity last year to buy the business, Nathasha had worked at Clayart for three years, and since then, alongside her long time friend and keen crafter Zuzanna, she’s been able to take the shop to the next level.

If you need an excuse to leave the busy world behind, a few hours of creativity can really help ease your stress levels, and Clayart welcomes you to pull up a chair while the kettle boils and start decorating your own pottery. Pottery painting is a fantastic exercise, whether you’re by yourself or with a group of friends or family, and Clayart sees regular children’s birthday parties, hen parties and even baby showers getting stuck in! What’s more, Natasha tells us: “we have discovered that pottery painting is good therapy for dementia sufferers and we’ve had a good response when visiting care homes with our pottery painting workshops.”

So the benefits are certainly there to be enjoyed! If you’d like to give it a go, you’ll be pleased to know that you can just turn up, however during busier periods, booking is advisable, with sessions available to book online, through social media or over the phone. Your furry friends are welcome too, and pad and paw prints in clay or plaster are available, with a donation going to Woodside Animal Sanctuary for every one sold.

You can also commission Zuzanna to create a commemorative piece, which is great if you’ve been looking for something special for a loved one’s wedding, anniversary or other special occasion.

Open every day throughout the summer, if you and your family are stuck for activity ideas, or are looking for a way to while away the afternoon when the weather’s not so fair, why not pop into Clayart and engage your creative side?
