Cornwall LivingIssue #154

Listening and Seeing

The seventh instalment of the Cornwall Hi-Fi and Home Cinema Show has just gone, and this year was undoubtedly the biggest and best yet.

Organised and hosted by HBH Woolacotts and held on the 4th and 5th October at the Royal Cornwall Showground the event was extremely well received by visitors, customers and exhibitors alike.

Since its inception in 2017, the Cornwall Hi-Fi Show has evolved significantly, prompting the team at HBH Woolacotts to enhance its venue. The addition of a marquee, affectionately dubbed the “TV Tent,” allowed for more exhibitors while maintaining the Pavilion Centre’s exceptional atmosphere and hospitality. This setup not only expanded the range of brands showcased, including LG, Samsung, Panasonic, and Sonos, but also created a distinct separation between TV and Hi-Fi areas, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

This year’s show featured no less than six UK  or world-first product unveilings, highlighting cutting-edge innovations. Among these was the Cyrus 40 Series, a sleek range of compact 2-channel separates that impressed attendees with their design and sound quality. The Arcam Radia Phase 2 showcased premium streaming amplifiers, with some models not expected until 2025. Roksan revealed the latest in its renowned Caspian series, while Ruark debuted the R610 and Sabre-R, heralding a return to its classic 2-channel roots. DALI also showcased its Rubikore Loudspeakers, elegantly finished in maroon, while KEF launched the latest Q-Series, exhibited in collaboration with Yamaha for a budget-friendly immersive home
theatre experience.

Other brand-new launches included Monitor Audio, who presented both the Gold Series and the new Studio89 speakers, renowned for their compact yet detailed sound. Additionally, Wiim unveiled the Wiim Ultra, a versatile yet high quality alternative to wireless home audio.

The Cornwall Hi-Fi Show has established itself as a key event for product launches, drawing brands eager to showcase their latest innovations and engage with customers across the South West. This year, Cyrus Audio received the “Adrian Dykes Award” for the best room, featuring its new 40-Series paired with Audio Physic ‘SPARK’ speakers, while LG and Ruark Audio received Special Recognition awards.

As the premier destination for Hi-Fi and home cinema enthusiasts in the region, HBH Woolacotts offers many products from attending brands in its showrooms in Wadebridge,
St Austell and Plymouth, allowing customers to experience top-quality audio in a comfortable setting coupled with expert guidance.
