Lock it in
If you have doubts as to the thermal efficiency of your home, perhaps Philip Whear can help?
With energy prices spiralling, it has become more important than ever for homeowners to make their properties as thermally efficient as possible. After all, those watts of energy that are lost through poor insulation, broken seals and blown glazing are, in the current climate, adding up to a significant burden on our wallets.
If it is your glazing that you suspect might be costing you pennies and pounds, whilst you probably already knew that double glazing was more efficient than its single counterpart, you may not have known that modern double glazing actually vastly outperforms not only single glazing, but also older forms of double glazing. With modern advancements including composite spacer bars, argon-filled sealed units and specialist glass coatings, at Philip Whear, the team are able to achieve a ‘u’ value of 1.1W/m2K in their glazed products. Put more simply, the lower the ‘u’ value, the more thermally efficient the product, and 1.1 is a very low number indeed!
But it’s not all about thermal efficiency for the fabricators at Philip Whear. It’s also about minimising the impact on the environment and, although uPVC and plastic in general tend to receive bad press, the Philip Whear fabricators recycle old uPVC frames and glass, and up to 60% of their frames are made from recycled uPVC products. They can also build bespoke designs in timber and aluminium, depending on your particular needs, style and budget, and with an on-site paint booth finishing frames in your precise chosen colours, it’s really an all-in-one service.
With many firms buying in their frames from out of county, Philip Whear is proud to be able to say that the majority of the products are manufactured at the company factory near Redruth, so if you’re hoping to secure a product that’s not only efficient, but sustainably made right here in Cornwall, be sure to pop into the showroom and speak with one of the designers. Always on hand and happy to help advise and guide you to the product and specification that suits you, they can quickly make your aspirations a reality.
