Kestrel Specialist Handrail Systems take a look back on one of their favourite projects to date.

Kestrel Specialist Handrail Systems has been helping clients in Cornwall add the all-important finishing touches to their properties since 2013 – touches that make the difference between a nice home, and one that becomes the envy of friends and family.

As we catch up with the team ahead of this year’s Cornwall Home and Garden Show, Katie Grant – who owns the company along with her husband, Bruce – throws back fondly to one of their first projects, the finished results of which you can see pictured. “Looking back to 2015, it’s still one of our favourites,” she says. “The customer was enjoyable to work with – they were looking for something a little different and were open to ideas.”

Overlooking the Fal river, towards St Anthony Lighthouse, this particular home benefits from the most incredible views, and it was these that the owner wished to capitalise on. Katie, Bruce and the team were able to conceptualise and build a fabulous stainless steel and glass balustrade system which, whilst safely ‘fencing’ the boundaries of their client’s decking area, in no way detracted from the view. If anything, it enhanced it, and Katie explains that the owner was so happy that he later commissioned Kestrel for a second balcony, which she says “was as enjoyable as the first”.

Recognising that Cornwall has countless unique properties for which ‘off the shelf’ solutions simply won’t do, Katie, Bruce and the Kestrel team approach each individual project on its own merits, ensuring that each and every client is left better able capitalise on Cornwall’s coveted outdoor lifestyle.
