Making a connection

We catch up with Joanna Hudson, satisfied customer of Helston’s Carpet Connection, who shares her experience.

Having recently realised her dream holiday home, Joanna Hudson has embarked on a complete renovation of the Edwardian property, enlisting the help of Helston based Carpet Connection to give the flooring that finishing touch.

From the off… it was clear that customer service is of the utmost importance for this family run business.”

Work on the house, which had more or less been left unaltered since the seventies, was extensive. As well as being rewired, re-plumbed and tanked, five new bathrooms were put in place on the first floor while a new kitchen, staircase, small extension and terrace were also added.

When it came to the flooring Joanna remained loyal to the property’s character, reusing the original wooden floors where possible.  She explains: “We lifted them up to put insulation underneath, then replaced, sanded and oiled them. However, most of the bedrooms were carpeted and we wanted a statement runner on the staircase.”

On choosing a carpet supplier Joanna says: “We tried to use local tradespeople and products where we could, and so we got to asking our builders to recommend a local flooring specialist. They immediately pointed to Carpet Connection, and we actually found that we knew a number of the company’s already happy customers.”

Joanna goes on to tell us: “The whole experience of working with Carpet Connection was delightful and efficient. I went to the showroom and quickly found what I was looking for – good quality carpets that complemented the laid back, coastal scheme that we had planned for the house.

“The staff were more than helpful, knowledgeable and charming; they quickly learned my name and were even happy for me to take samples back to the house with me.”

From the off, according to Joanna, it was clear that customer service is of the utmost importance for this business, and when it finally came to placing her order, she explains how efficiently everything was handled.

“We found the whole service to be incredibly personable – traditional, if you like – as well as polite and accommodating. The best part was how they slotted into our tight and complicated building schedule.”

So just how highly does Joanna recommend Carpet Connection? “To anyone who lives or owns a second home in Cornwall and wants to freshen their tired home décor, I cannot recommend them highly enough.”
