Mighty Oaks Do Grow

This year sees this much cherished theatre make its offering that much more appealing.

The combined 250 seat Acorn Theatre is a much-loved hub for the creative arts in the centre of Penzance, showcasing a vast and innovative programme of live music, comedy, theatre and performing arts.

The theatre prioritises high-quality performances along with creative engagement within the local community through workshops and clubs. Its programme cuts across all genres, including live music nights, international tours, book launches, work by local talent and comedy nights. With two theatre spaces, it hosts both intimate performances and standing gigs. It showcases and invests in emerging local talent through its Get Involved programme, providing a platform and environment for new events to thrive.

Branching out still further, an already effulgent offering is complemented by the addition of two new facilities. A newly refurbished bar is now open in the cabaret auditorium, an 80-seater area that provides the perfect stage for intimate and cosy gigs. This modernised space offers local ale and cider on draft, along with new equipment and a fresh, contemporary look that enhances the overall ambiance. Thanks to a grant from the Shared Prosperity Fund, The Acorn has remodelled its 20-year-old toilet facilities. The new restrooms feature modern plumbing, updated styling and double the number of cubicles for the ladies, significantly improving the experience for theatregoers and reducing waiting times during intervals.

Richie and Hannah, Acorn’s Management, alongside their fantastic team of friendly volunteers, guarantee a warm welcome to all visitors. They are committed to deepening their understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion to ensure they provide a respectful and diverse place for everyone. Their performances and classes are open and accessible to all, allowing the local community to discover and love the arts, whether through watching, taking part, or helping.

If you’re wanting to attend one of the upcoming performances, you’ll find the online box office is open between ten and four, Monday through to Friday. Ticket sales are also available by calling the number below.
