After more than two decades transforming homes across Buckinghamshire, London and abroad, interior designer Samantha Johnson has made the bold move to Cornwall, bringing a refined sense of style and space to the coast. Known for her elegant use of colour, statement wallpapers, timeless styling  and personalised service, she is now setting up her design studio in Pendoggett, North Cornwall, and is open for new projects.

“I was ready for a change of pace and scenery, but I didn’t want to compromise on creativity,” she explains. “Cornwall offers such rich inspiration; natural textures, coastal light and an easy sophistication that’s incredibly refreshing.” Her design philosophy is rooted in bespoke craftsmanship and a deep understanding of how people truly live in their spaces. Whether it’s a modern coastal retreat or a characterful period home, she tailors every project with care, ensuring that each detail – from the arch of a doorway to the sweep of a staircase – works in harmony with the client’s lifestyle.

With a background in both space planning and decorative design, her interiors feel considered yet effortless. Think heritage wallpapers with a modern twist, custom joinery, soft tonal palettes punctuated with unexpected bursts of colour and layered textures that evoke comfort and style in equal measure. Clients can expect a truly personal design experience, from initial consultation through to installation. “It’s about creating homes that feel curated, not copied,” explains Samantha. “Each one should tell a story — your story — through beautiful, intelligent design.”

Samantha is currently renovating her own Cornish home, putting her signature design principles into practice in a setting that inspires her daily. “Living through the process again reminds me what clients really need, which is empathy, creativity and practical solutions,” she says. “It’s goes beyond creating beautiful rooms; it’s more about making a home that truly works for you.”

Samantha is building relationships locally and is already collaborating with local artisans and sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces that echo her love for quality and individuality.
