New state-of-the-art hospital in Falmouth
Rosemullion Veterinary Practice moves into brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital in Falmouth
On 31st August, the well-known and loved local vets at Rosemullion finally opened the doors to their new state-of-the-art veterinary hospital located at Tregoniggie Industrial Estate, Falmouth. So, as a pet owner either living in, or visiting, Cornwall, what can you expect from the brand-new premises?
The ‘Wow’ factor
The hospital is easily accessible from Bickland Water Road and offers current and new pet owners an extensive range of services and facilities in a very modern environment, whilst maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Designed to give clients a totally new experience when visiting the vets, the ‘wow’ factor is in the contemporary and spacious reception and waiting area. The concept of the open-plan design is to enable the team to bond with their clients and pets from the moment they enter the building. Removing the traditional reception desk changes the ‘rules’, but the team passionately believe in customer focus and removing barriers between them and the clients and pets who need their care.
More services and facilities
“We outgrew our premises in Melvill Road making it difficult to give our clients the level of service we wanted to,” says Susan Hawkins, Practice Director. “The new hospital building has all the space we need in a central location with plenty of parking and complements the services already offered by our branches in Penryn and Helston. We now have seven consulting rooms, three operating theatres, separate cat and dog waiting areas and separate dog, cat and exotic animal wards to minimise stress for our patients, as well as a wide range of the latest veterinary equipment including a CT scanner and a visiting MRI scanner. We have a growing team of experienced vets alongside our referrals team of Advanced Practitioners, all assisted by our excellent nursing and support teams. We welcome all species – dogs, cats, rabbits and exotics (including birds, other small mammals, tortoises and other reptiles).”
High-quality referral services on site
Veterinary Surgeon and Clinical Director, Helena Wilkes, elaborates: “The new site gives us the space and equipment we need to expand our referral services for our clients. Our aim is to expand our areas of expertise so that we can offer a higher level of veterinary care to our patients to reduce the need to travel outside of the county for complex cases. Our referral services include Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology, Advanced Imaging and Exotics.”
Holidaymakers welcome
Located in a very popular holiday location, the hospital also welcomes holidaymakers’ pets for treatment during normal opening hours as well as out of hours.
24-hour out-of-hours and emergency care on site
The new hospital continues to operate a 24-hour emergency service on-site which, as of the end of September, is run by MiNightVet Falmouth – a dedicated emergency out-of-hours provider with a team of full-time night staff who will be alert, awake and effective even at unsociable hours. Their qualified vets and nurses have a special interest, experience and training in all aspects of urgent critical care. “By providing our own on-site inpatient and emergency service, our clients’ pets benefit from continuity of care and are treated in a familiar place 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year,” concludes Susan. “This service will be led by Siobhan Mcinerney, a long-standing Rosemullion vet who many of our clients will know well.”
