Ocean inspiration
Immerse yourself in the waves at Polzeath’s Whitewater Gallery.
Located in the renowned surfing village of Polzeath, Whitewater Gallery is just off the beach and, staying true to its roots, has the ocean at its heart. If you’ve spent the day soaking in the beautiful sea views at Polzeath while idly watching the waves crash onto the shore, and want to immortalise the beauty of the Cornish landscape, then Whitewater Gallery is well worth a visit. The breathtaking artwork on display is a testament to Cornwall’s incredible landscape, ranging from striking paintings to sea inspired ceramics.
“Changing through the seasons, the summer exhibitions see a range of colourful artwork appearing in the gallery celebrating the very best of Cornwall’s artists and makers.”
Owners Suki and Nick Wapshott are both artists themselves whose work features in the gallery. Nick’s surf and landscape photographs will immerse you in the waves and the world of surfing as well as capturing stunning images from around Cornwall. Suki, meanwhile, is a much collected landscape painter whose work spans from poetic seascapes to abstract art.
Changing through the seasons, the summer exhibitions see a range of colourful artwork appearing in the gallery celebrating the very best of Cornwall’s artists and makers. Then, over the winter months, private views are regularly held in association with The Waterfront Bar and Restaurant, which is adjacent to the gallery and presents a special exhibition inspired menu with food and cocktails that nod towards the themes of the artwork
on display.
Specialising in paintings, prints, sculpture, jewellery and ceramics by some of Cornwall’s leading artists, the beautiful ocean front gallery has an annual programme of exhibitions. Encapsulating the colours and shapes of Cornwall’s coast, this gallery by the sea is definitely worth a visit for all the ocean lovers out there.
