There’s something very exciting happening at The Nare this April. Cornwall’s renowned five-star independent hotel is delighted to announce the reopening of The Quarterdeck Seafood Restaurant, reimagined as a premier seafood dining destination. With breathtaking views over Gerrans Bay, here you can feast on the finest locally sourced seafood in a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere.
Every detail has been carefully considered to create an exceptional dining experience, from menu development and the selection of exquisite crockery that mirrors the shimmering sea, to colour-matched linens – meticulous attention to detail is evident.
Led by Cornwall’s incredible ocean larder, the menu features St Mawes octopus, hand-dived scallop ceviche, Cornish Bluefin tuna raviolo, monkfish wellington, whole Dover sole, grilled local lobster, and a showstopping fruits de mer seafood platter. The dessert menu is equally impressive, highlighting the skill and creativity of The Quarterdeck’s chefs, who blend classic flavours with exciting twists – the Earl Grey crème brûlée is a must-try.
With sustainability in mind, The Quarterdeck incorporates hand-foraged ingredients such as seaweed, wild garlic and elderflower in its dishes and the restaurant proudly supports Wing of St Mawes, a multi-award-winning Cornish fishmonger. The Quarterdeck has also partnered with the National Lobster Hatchery to contribute to their Buy One, Set One Free initiative. For every lobster purchased, The Quarterdeck donates £1 to help raise and release baby lobsters back into local waters and in doing so not only supports the local marine ecosystem, but ensures the continuation of this cherished delicacy for future generations.
Sat above the cliffs along the gentle curve of Gerrans Bay, The Quarterdeck offers a front-row seat to uninterrupted vistas, where golden sands stretch beneath the cliffs, with Nare Point standing proudly on the horizon. Thoughtfully designed interiors complement the blue waters beyond, creating an elegant yet welcoming setting for special occasions, intimate gatherings and memorable dining experiences. In summer, the outdoor deck invites guests to bask in the sunshine with a chilled glass of Chablis, while in winter, large panoramic windows ensure the stunning views can still be enjoyed in warmth and comfort.
