Cornwall LivingIssue #98

On all cylinders

Having spent the lockdown safe in our beautiful county, Kernow Fires is pleased to report that it’s back – and with a new zest for life!

Simon Breckon, who owns Kernow Fires, explains: “As a business we were in a fortunate position here in Cornwall. We have used lockdown to take stock of our position in the market, our offering and our working systems, and figure out how we could offer more to our clients.  It is rare to have time like this to really focus on your business.”

“We have slowly brought the team back as regulations have allowed,” he continues, “and we are nearly back to full strength. We have introduced our own ‘Respect and Protect’ policy, which includes an appointment system to the showrooms to ensure social distancing. This is working well along with remote FaceTime and Zoom surveys. We are embracing a new realm of improved customer contact that will reduce our driven miles and carbon footprint.”

This system, Simon elaborates, has to combine with social distancing rules. This means less staff being physically present, while appointments ensure that the right knowledgeable person is always available for your visit. The introduction of this new Respect and Protect policy has enabled all staff and visitors to return and feel safe, with a clear understanding of procedures and additional safety requirements.

So what can you expect from Kernow Fires now that Cornwall is starting to return to normal? The launch of the team’s Summer Collection, which includes Big Green Egg, barbeques and B-Bags – everything you need for enjoying eating and relaxing at home this summer – has already been met with huge enthusiasm. The collection is tailored to suit our county – perfect for us Cornish folk who may still be spending a bit more time eating at home over the summer or enjoying barbeques on the beach, as well as holiday home and Airbnb owners who wish to offer their guests relaxed outside dining.

All products can be viewed online on the Kernow Fires website, where you can also catch up on their latest news and offers.

The Kernow Fires showroom hosts an expansive display of woodburners from the top UK and Europe brands, alongside the largest Everhot showroom in the south west. Appointments can be made for showroom visits and private Everhot Demonstrations; the showroom in Wadebridge is currently open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday by appointment. Redruth is also open by appointment. Call 01208 812527 to book or for more information.
