After taking over Lantic Gallery in 2016, Lizzie Hill has really built on the gallery’s already sterling reputation.
Take a trip to Tiverton’s independent quarter of Gold Street, where you’ll find a treat nestled among the independent boutiques and cafés. Lantic Gallery is an established business that’s been trading in Tiverton for more than 15 years, however in autumn 2016 a number of exciting changes took place, including a change in ownership as Lizzie Hill took the reins.

Having worked at the gallery for several years already, Lizzie knew the business inside and out, and has used her first 18 months at the helm to really put her mark on the establishment. After re-branding, restocking and remodeling, while maintaining the original Lantic charm, the gallery is now a modern, fresh space, showcasing paintings, prints, ceramics and jewellery by artists across the south west. The gallery also stocks contemporary design-led products, as well as exquisite greetings cards and gift wrap. So, whether you simply need to pick up a beautiful birthday card for a friend, or are searching for the painting of your dreams, Lantic Gallery should be your first port of call.
After completing a degree in Illustration at Bath Spa University and working as a commercial artist, Lizzie has the eye, confidence and flair that’s necessary to source unique art and gifts that complement one another beautifully. “The gallery is a glimmer of inspiration on the high street, providing the customer with an inviting space where they know they can always find something special and unique,” Lizzie explains.
“I feel it’s important to support UK makers and I love working with individual artists and small businesses. We’re friends with our customers, artists and suppliers, keeping alive the traditional way of retailing. We visit studios, potteries and exhibitions, sourcing work from start to finish. We love seeing where the artist works and picking out the perfect items to showcase in Lantic.”
Lizzie and her husband Chris moved from Bath to Chris’ home village in Devon, and the gallery has been a huge success, one they intend to build on and enjoy for years to come.
