Outstanding architecture
We discuss the nuances of architecture with Nigel Hefferman and discover the projects he’s worked on.
Having the skill to transform concept into design is no mean feat but Nigel Hefferman at Nigel Hefferman Designs Ltd makes it seem effortless, creating analytical scale drawings of your dream home, ready to be built to your exact specifications.
We hear a first hand account of what it takes to be an architect from Nigel, who tells us:
“Art college taught me to have a very open and broad outlook when designing anything in three dimensional form. Discipline in Architectural Design is essential and the greats, like Palladio, influence our approach and understanding of proportion and elegance, which can be seen in Egyptian, Greek and Roman buildings.”
To be able to accurately translate the measurements and scale of a building is quite a talent, and seeing your concept from design through to completion is an incredibly rewarding process. “Each undertaking has its individual brief no matter how big or small and clients receive from me an artistic visual or perspective to indicate the style proportion and character, in my opinion computer generated imagery often fails to really do a drawing justice so I generally work at concept stage using the old methods but then convert into CAD (Computer Aided Design) for on going layouts and services,” explains Nigel.
Through his extensive portfolio of projects Nigel has gained valuable insight into the structure of different buildings and what can really make a design stand out. Having worked on many designs for clients throughout the UK and in Cornwall, Nigel tells us: “I’ve been lucky enough to work on everything from challenging commissions to design extensions, makeovers, bespoke properties and renovations on Grade listed historic buildings, fabulous palaces, boutique hotels abroad, country houses and sports pavilions.”
So, whether you want to design a new build, an extension on a current property or are in need of a new tennis court then get in touch with Nigel today and utilise his professional expertise in architecture.
