Paws and pistons
Bodmin & Wenford is proud to be a dog-friendly railway!
For just £1, your furry friend is more than welcome to join you as you embark on a journey back in time and discover the excitement and nostalgia of steam on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway.
Relax in style and enjoy a leisurely 13-mile round trip through beautiful countryside, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of a bygone age, as the era of a Cornish branch line in the 1950s reveals itself to you. ‘Paws-on-the-floor’ travel on Bodmin & Wenford’s everyday service trains means your dog can come along and explore the countryside on Cornwall’s only full-sized railway still operated by steam.
There are plenty of walking opportunities nearby too, from the Bodmin Beacon Nature Reserve (within walking distance of Bodmin General Station), to the National Trust’s Lanhydrock Estate (alight at Bodmin Parkway). Follow nature trails in Cardinham Woods, or why not take the 18-mile long Camel Trail, which runs adjacent to a disused railway line right in the heart of Cornwall.
Free parking is available at Bodmin General and you’ll find five more of Bodmin’s fantastic dog friendly attractions within walking distance! Trains run between here and Bodmin Parkway, where connections can be made directly with mainline rail services, and with Boscarne Junction, which is situated on the Camel Trail.
Passenger train services operate throughout the year, and daily from late May until early October. If you’re looking for a new way to explore Cornwall with your dog, don’t miss Bodmin & Wenford’s varied and interesting programme of special events and trains throughout the year!
