Putting you first
As the new year begins, Cornwall Medical Group (CMG) has an exciting raft of plans to help you put your health first in 2023.
Whilst CMG’s name may be new to some (having been set up in 2021), the expertise on offer is not. Theirs is an organic progression of the hugely successful Probus Surgical Centre; renowned as one of the county’s leading NHS and private surgical centres since 1995. CMG was set up to offer Cornwall a range of private medical services including vasectomies, hernia repair, cataract surgery and skin lesion removal.
CMG has a dedicated Sports Medicine Doctor who offers advanced solutions for a range of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, including osteoarthritis, acute sports injuries and knee, elbow and shoulder pain. The clinic provides a weight-management service and a range of skin and hair treatments for conditions including rosacea, acne and acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, hair loss and alopecia. In addition, they provide doctor-led aesthetic treatments for skin and hair rejuvenation, wrinkle relaxation, skin boosters and more.
We tracked down director, Spencer Casey, to find out how CMG are planning to broaden their service for 2023, to provide an even greater level of care. “We knew that Cornwall Medical Group would provide vital private medical services for Cornwall. We could see a real need for fast diagnostics and more rapid private treatment options within the County’s current healthcare provision.” He continued, “Since its inception, CMG has grown to meet the needs of the Cornish community but we are now in a place to expand our offering further.
CMG operates out of two centres; one in Probus and one from St Clare’s Medical Centre in Penzance. We already offer state-of-the-art procedures and treatments with our team of expert practitioners and we hope that 2023 will allow us to expand, both in terms of our premises and with our list of services. Not only will CMG be able to provide an even better level of care for our patients, but we will also continue to support our local community by lessening the strain on our local healthcare, re-investing in the NHS strands of our business and providing jobs for local health workers.”
So, how could Cornwall Medical Group help you to feel better in 2023? We look more closely at some of their services and the treatments on offer to patients at CMG. The surgical service is provided by an outstanding team of Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Patient Coordinators. They are surgical experts in the South West, offering a range of treatments and surgical solutions with minimal recovery time.
With patient care sitting at the heart of everything they do, Probus Surgical Centre and CMG’s post-operative surveys consistently show exceptional levels of patient satisfaction, averaging over 99% (September 2020).
When it comes to pain and injury management CMG offer a Musculoskeletal (MSK) service that provides evidence-based therapies for the treatment of joints and muscles. They have a dedicated Sports Medicine Doctor, who can help in the treatment of conditions including osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, frozen shoulders, repetitive strain injuries and recovery from sprains and strains, fractures and surgical procedures.
The MSK service is unique in that they offer a complete pathway from diagnostics to assessment and treatment, all under one roof. The focus is on proven, fast and efficient methods that are minimally invasive and promote rapid return-to-activity times. Their team believes that you shouldn’t be left struggling with painful joints or muscles or inconsistent approaches to your rehabilitation.
They are also proud to run the county’s only holistic weight management service, which combines prescription weight loss medication with cognitive, nutritional and movement support. The service is only available to those with a BMI of over 30. It is dedicated to helping people to lose weight for good, by making changes to their lifestyles that positively impact their health and well-being.
CMG also offers a range of treatments including cryotherapy, skin lesion removal, and Plasma Rich Platelet Therapy (PRP) for a range of skin and hair complaints from skin tags, moles and lesions, acne and acne scarring, pigmentation, rosacea, thinning hair, alopecia and male-pattern baldness. These therapies sit alongside a portfolio of aesthetic treatments for skin rejuvenation including wrinkle relaxation, skin booster injections and facials.
