Retire to the city

Cosmopolitan retirement living in Truro, Cornwall’s cathedral city.

Whether you enjoy messing about on the river, sampling the best of Cornish produce or simply relaxing and taking in breath taking coastal views then we have found the ideal retirement location. Truro, with its narrow cobbled streets, grand Georgian architecture and charming coastal lifestyle draws an increasing number of visitors every year but it is also tempting many more retirees to settle there permanently.

“Retirement should be all about making life easier so there is plenty of time to relax and enjoy living.”

Located on St Clement’s Hill in the heart of the city, Churchill Retirement Living’s latest development, Tregolls Lodge, is a collection of 58 one and two bedroom apartments exclusively for those aged 60 and over. Many apartments feature balconies with views of the striking Truro Cathedral that dominates the city skyline.

All apartments are completely self-contained with their own front door, providing you with privacy and peace and quiet when you want it. There is a choice of one and two bedroom apartments that both have spacious rooms throughout and an ideal combination of design and functionality. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob, an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height, and a washing machine. Tiled shower rooms come as standard, while some have separate en-suites and cloakrooms as well. Master bedrooms have fitted mirror-front wardrobes as well as television and telephone points and all of the properties benefit from illuminated light switches for added convenience – even the smallest details are taken care of with everything designed for ease of use.

Retirement should be all about making life easier so there is plenty of time to relax and enjoy living. The development is looked after by Millstream Management Services, a specialist property management company so that everything from fire and security monitoring and building insurance to window cleaning are all taken care of.  The beautifully landscaped gardens and communal areas at Tregolls Lodge are looked after by a Lodge Manager giving you peace of mind that they are being maintained by the experts and are always looking their best.

With less to worry about, owners have more time to do the things they enjoy, including taking advantage of the host of other benefits that are on offer including having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed guest suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the many events in the Owners’ Lounge.

For many, moving house to somewhere new can be very daunting and unfamiliar, particularly when you’re in your 80s; but for Peter Fazakerley his move to Tregolls Lodge in Truro took him back down memory lane, to somewhere rather more familiar. Peter has put his stamp on many areas of Cornwall, during his illustrious career as a quantity surveyor for Cornwall Council, but Tregolls Lodge on St Clement’s Hill has quite a connection. Peter explains: “For many years I was the chief quantity surveyor for Cornwall Council, and was involved in many special projects throughout the county. In fact, I was involved with the build of the original police station on St Clement’s Hill where Tregolls Lodge now stands. It seems like fate that has brought me here now.

“Tregolls Lodge was the first retirement complex I viewed and I was really pleased with the facilities at the Lodge, and the lifestyle on offer. It’s so close to all the local amenities, and it’s easy for me to just walk to the shops – something I was never able to
do before.”

Truro has an excellent selection of high street retailers, independent boutiques and a lively café culture all within easy walking distance of Tregolls Lodge. A short drive will take you to the stunning Roseland peninsula, one of the most picturesque and unspoilt parts of the country where you can discover secluded bays, magical creeks and enjoy a quieter pace of life.

So if you are looking for a retirement property that will leave you time to live the Cornish lifestyle to the full then Tregolls Lodge could be for you.
