Right time, right place

Looking for a holiday home in Cornwall? We’ve found the ideal opportunity to purchase your own lodge in an idyllic woodland getaway.

You’ll find John Fowler Holiday Parks’ St Ives Holiday Village nestled amongst the trees in over 100 acres of woodland. Situated just outside St Ives, here you’ll find the peace and quite of a rural park combined with the perfect location for discovering nearby St Ives and Hayle, as well as further afield to the delights of west Penwith and beyond.

“The St Ives park has been something of a sleeping baby, but now it is to become the group’s flagship park it will really come into its own.”

John Fowler Holiday Parks is a family owned and run company and has been so for the last 65 years, with lettings at its heart. Since the beginning, John Fowler’s ethos was, and still is, to create holiday parks in stunning locations so that visitors have a lovely place to stay while using it as a base to explore the surrounding area. This ethos is none more apparent here and St Ives Holiday Village has been pinpointed to become John Fowlers’ flagship park. There has already been considerable development here over recent years, with the original older style chalets being replaced with brand new lodge accommodation.

We speak to John Fowler Holidays’ Group Sales Manager, Mark Johnson, to find out more. “The park is currently undergoing a multi-million investment that has seen us take away a section of old chalets each year and replace them with brand new lodges, with the last phase being this winter with a limited number of lodges for sale,” explains Mark.

Mark continues: “The St Ives park has been something of a sleeping baby, but now it is to become the group’s flagship park it will really come into its own. The new proposed facilities will be based around a mini village feel. All the buildings will be sympathetic to the woodland environment and will be constructed using wood, stone and glass with eco-friendly sedum roofs.” The work on the new facilities is planned to commence in the winter of 2019 and will include a new reception facility with supermarket, swimming pool with log flumes, an entertainment complex, bowling alley, gym, spa and indoor sports complex and an adults only pub.

With the last phase of renewing the old chalets due to complete this winter, there has never been a better time to purchase a lodge on St Ives Holiday Village. A select number of new lodges will be available to buy off-plan and will be competitively priced. Mark expands: “This is still a lovely park as it is at the moment, even without the new investment. The new lodges will be keenly priced and site fees will remain low while the development of the park is finished. As our site fees are fixed from when you buy (apart from inflationary increases), those who buy now will benefit from the lower site fees secured on purchase.”

“Anyone purchasing with a view to sub-letting should know that this park lets particularly well, due to its fantastic location. If you own a lodge here you have the option to retain full usage, sub-let enough weeks to cover your site fees or sub-let the majority of weeks, which can go some way to recouping part of your investment. John Fowler Holiday Parks can manage your letting for you, you can do it privately or you can opt for a mix of both,” adds Mark, “the choice is yours.”

This versatility means that your dream of owning a holiday home in Cornwall could be closer to reality than you think.  The park attracts a mix of owners and visitors from families to couples. The entertainment facilities are all at the front of the site meaning that lodges further into the park are very secluded. The park is also dog friendly and with such a vast expanse of woodland, is perfect for walkies along the gentle paths!

There is a regular bus service during the main season from the park that can take you into St Ives via Lelant or through Hayle and onto Penzance. Indeed, many visitors choose to not even bring their car, arriving by train into St Erth and taking the short taxi service to the park. A fully stocked mini-market, along with a café and restaurant, means that you have all you need on site from which to explore all that this stunning part of Cornwall has to offer.
