Rolling with the punches

Throughout the last year, Boscastle Farm Shop has continued to adapt to the difficulties of a pandemic.

Glorious views of the coast, an on-site butchery, a café and deli, plus a shop crammed with even more local goodies, fresh produce, and a range of gift ideas; at Boscastle Farm Shop, you’ll find all of this together in one fabulous package, perched on the cliffs above the historic harbour of Boscastle.

Owned and run by Robin and Jackie Haddy, this superb Cornish business has nurtured a reputation for combining a gorgeous locale with the tastiest Cornish food, including its own home-reared meat, and there is a clear passion for quality in everything the team produces. Indeed, having won a Gold award for ‘Best Café/Tea Room’ in Cornwall, and Silver at the South West of England Tourism Awards, as well as Taste of the West Gold Awards and even a place in TripAdvisor’s Top 10 ‘Best Roast Dinners’ in Cornwall, Jackie and co’s foodie flair has clearly not gone unnoticed!

All of that aside, the last year has of course been extremely difficult for many independent Cornish businesses, but one thing we at Cornwall Living have noticed is how well many of them have been able to adapt to the changing times. Boscastle Farm Shop is no exception. In fact, testament to the popularity of this Cornish shop’s offering, Jackie and the team have, when restrictions have allowed, continued to welcome guests for outdoor dining, and have even launched a new and incredibly popular online shop. Giving customers the chance to purchase a wide range of delicious homemade products, as well as items from the butchery and deli, with the option of either click and collect or delivery, it’s really no surprise that the online shop has been so popular!

Unfortunately, one thing that has had to take something of a backseat in recent months is the farm shop’s usual calendar of foodie events. From barbeque and hog roast evenings, including live music and entertainment, to pop-up cinema nights and other clifftop capers, such happenings have been sorely missed since the onset of the pandemic. However, there is, we hope, light at the end of the tunnel, and Jackie is looking forward to a time when they can once again welcome us with open arms. Indeed, after a year of lockdowns and restrictions on our lives, what could be better than a balmy evening spent feasting and watching the sun dip below the horizon?
