Ground screw foundations are the simple solution to supporting timber constructions.

Ground screws can support all timber above ground using only the screws themselves. This massively increases the lifespan of the supporting structure and as well as supporting impressive loading per screw, it greatly reduces the carbon footprint and the requirement for concrete. As concrete is currently the second-most consumed substance on earth after water, choosing an alternative like this is a bit of a
no-brainer, especially when it ticks so many boxes with timber construction.
In fact, Hamish was so impressed with the potential of these screws that he left Cormac to first manage and then buy the GroundScrew business. The ground screw product is now being viewed seriously by both domestic and commercial markets as a means of supporting summerhouses, pods, garden rooms, lodges and decking. In fact, if it’s timber construction, these screws can satisfy just about every requirement. Hamish can also offer bespoke, calibrated and safe working load data back to customers. Ground conditions vary enormously throughout the south west and so on many projects the customer, or their structural engineer, will want to know exactly how much loading the screws will take for their project.
The installations are mess free, quick and easy, and if you compare them to removal of soil and pouring concrete, they are more than competitively priced. They will also work around tree roots or existing services and unlike concrete, there’s no waiting-around time to build off them.
