Sensationally seasonal

For a proper taste of seasonal Cornwall, Edieís Kitchen is a definite must-visit this autumn and in the run up to Christmas.

Here at Cornwall Living we’re what you might call fanatical about food, and one of our favourite past times has to be discovering the incredible array of restaurants that make our county the prominent foodie destination it has, without question, become. A prime example has to be Edie’s Kitchen – run by acclaimed chef Nigel Brown and his wife Kelly. With family values, good food and impeccable service at its heart, having met up with them this time last year to discover the delectable treats their menu has to offer, we were in no way surprised to learn that this year, they’ve been nominated as finalists in the Cornwall Tourism Awards!

Located just a short stroll from the shore at Carlyon Bay, Edie’s Kitchen is a great spot for fine seasonal dining. Whether you’re stopping by for dinner, or out and about and popping in for brunch (served Wednesday to Saturday, 10am until 2.30pm), you’ll be spoiled for choice. “Having grown up in Cornwall,” Nigel tells us, “I’m fully aware of the incredible produce that we have available to us and I’m committed to using the freshest, local ingredients in their most flavoursome combinations.” But it’s not just the food; as we said before, impeccable service lies at the very heart of what makes Edie’s Kitchen so special, and guests here can always expect a warm welcome.

With Christmas just around the corner, we’re eager to find out more about what Nigel, Kelly and the team have to offer those getting into the festive spirit. They show us to their new Christmas menu, which, they tell us, will be available from Friday 22nd November. Full of festive favourites, with more than a dose of Cornish flavour courtesy of Nigel and his innate foodie flare, you can choose from pumpkin soup, Cornish crab cakes, chicken liver parfait or twice-baked smoked Applewood soufflé to start, before tucking into a main of roast turkey, pan fried hake, camembert, fig, red onion and walnut tart, or beef bourguignon. If you do have room for afters, we won’t envy you having to choose between dark chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding, passionfruit and blueberry parfait, and mandarin meringue posset! Starting at just £23.95 for two courses, or £27.95 for three, if you’re thinking of planning a Christmas get together with friends or family, why not book yourselves a table
at Edie’s Kitchen?
