You’ll find Porthilly Bar just by the ferry landing on the edge of Rock’s golden sands, and it’s quickly becoming a must-visit destination for those seeking a chilled vibe, spectacular coastal views and tasty tapas. What began as a tasting room for the award-winning Porthilly Spirit Distillery in 2022, has blossomed into a fully-fledged tapas and cocktail bar – and if we do say so ourselves, one of the best spots in Rock to soak up the sun with a drink in hand.

With sweeping views across the Camel Estuary and a welcoming terrace just steps from the beach, Porthilly Bar is open daily from 12pm for drinks and freshly made tapas, with extended hours as summer sets in. Whether you’ve just stepped off the ferry or finished a stroll along the shoreline, it’s the perfect place to pause, unwind and indulge.

The tapas menu is designed for laid-back grazing – generous enough for a hearty lunch yet light enough to keep the afternoon easy. Dishes are created fresh in the bar – think boquerones, olive oil, piquillo pepper and lemon, Cornish fennel salami or manchego, quince and walnut – all of which pair beautifully with Porthilly’s own small-batch spirits, a carefully curated wine list, and local beers. 

Fancy trying your hand at mixing your own cocktail? Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, the bar hosts Mixology Masterclasses – a lively, hands-on cocktail experience that celebrates Porthilly’s own exceptional spirits, all while learning a trick or two from expert mixologists. It’s a chance to stir, shake and, of course, sip with the experts!

Whether you’re in the mood for a Classic Negroni with a view, a lazy lunch of Spanish-inspired flavours served with a perfectly chilled glass of AIX Rose, or a spirited evening of cocktail creativity, Porthilly Bar captures the very best of summer in Cornwall.
