Slick as a whistle

Stocking a range of eco-friendly products, Slickers Doghouse in Padstow aims to keep your dog both happy and healthy.

After a three-year search for a shop on Padstow’s North Quay, in April 2017 Lisa Hope was finally able to open Slickers Doghouse. The shop is in the perfect location – overlooking the harbour in the heart of Padstow, and offering dog owners an array of useful high-quality products with great value for money.

On the Slickers ethos, Lisa explains: “As nature lovers, we are on a mission to provide eco-friendly, sustainable products for our planet and oceans, as well as our dogs. Our toys and bowls are all made from eco-friendly materials such as rice husk, hemp and recycled bamboo chopsticks. Our bags are all paper and, where plastic is almost impossible to avoid – poop bags for instance – we only stock biodegradable and compostable versions.”

In store you’ll also find harnesses, lifejackets, coats and drying coats, which come with a free fitting service provided by a fully trained, animal-loving team. But it’s not just apparel and accessories. Lisa tells us:

“Health is a key factor for us at Slickers. We stock wet, dry and raw food, all of which is totally grain and meat meal free, providing the best possible nutrition for our furry friends.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Lisa and the team stock a range of natural, holistic and, where possible, organic treatments and medicines such as B-Balm for sore paws and noses, as well as colloidal silver-based drops and sprays for natural, more dog-friendly ways to kill bacterial infections. “We have dog remedies ranging from chemical-free flea and tick treatments, to chemical-free sickness and diarrhoea treatments that not only work fast, but balance the dog’s pre and pro-biotics too!”

So, if there’s anything your furry friend needs, you can rest assured that when you step into Slickers Doghouse, everything you see is stocked with both quality and the welfare of your dog in mind. “Most importantly of all,” Lisa finishes, “we love dogs, so come and see us for a cuddle.
