Solar is back

It rose to prominence ten years ago and with fast rising electricity costs, solar is proving a sensible and sustainable choice for today’s energy generation.

With renewables flooding the National Grid ESO, there are new and exciting ways for us all to produce, store, use, share and make good money from producing and storing electricity. A scheme that delights His Majesty King Charles III’s ‘People & Planet first’ mentality, but also ticks a few boxes for Prime Minister Truss has been launched by UKretrofit (ukretrofit.co.uk). The National Grid Balancing Project (NGBP) is akin to the post war ‘Grow More Food’ campaigns except today’s farmers and landowners are being paid £150,000+ for renting a 50m2 site to grow and store energy!

A few years ago, we wouldn’t have predicted Brexit or the pandemic; we certainly never predicted that farmers might start ‘growing energy’. However, with increasing levels of renewable power entering the National Grid ESO there is a growing requirement for grid-balancing via battery-storage systems. This fast growing, fast emerging energy sector was worth over £2.5 billion in 2020/21 and has created exciting opportunities for homeowners, farmers, landowners and commercial property owners.

Innovative firm UKretrofit has quietly launched their commercial and domestic NGBP, which as well as giving away solar and battery storage kit provides substantial savings on electricity supply for domestic and commercial users. “Demand for the NGBP scheme is through the roof,” said Charles May, Director at ukretrofit.co.uk, “we are the only UK firm that enables homes and businesses to secure electricity rates from as low as 10p per kwh.”

Based at The Health and Wellbeing Centre, Truro, the company is actively looking for farms, industrial or brownfield sites all over the UK to site container sized battery packs as part of the move to strengthen the national grid infrastructure. Landowners are cashing in with rental yields of £150,000+p.a. over 10 years, for simply renting a 50m2 site. Compelling stuff – especially for smaller farms that have struggled over the last few years and for those losing out as a result of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reforms. Domestic homes are also benefiting from the scheme with households rushing to secure electricity supply costs as low as 10p kwh fixed for
10 years! For more information email Charles@ukretrofit.co.uk
