Hidden away in the privacy of an abandoned quarry, a hive of accessible activity is bubbling away. But the secret is out! And more and more people are leaving shining five-star reviews for the fab, fun facilities at Trevassack Lake, all owned by Cornish charity, Children’s Sailing Trust, who’ve been teaching little ones life skills through sailing on the Helford River since 1997.

Just ten minutes from Helston, laughter echoes around the quarry cliffs from both young and old, six to 106 year olds, at this inclusive, accessible watersports and events centre. Friends can take to the water for calm, supervised paddlesports or get splashing in group raft-building that abandons you on the island with only some ropes and barrels to get you back to shore!

Bring the whole family to Trevassack for the day, where anyone can take part in sailing, paddleboarding (including MegaSUPs!), kayaks, Katakanus, raft-building, wild swimming, events and venue hire for birthdays, group meet-ups and even accessible weddings, with well-being classes such as yoga and pilates.

There are two Changing Places plus specialist hoists and equipment to help those with SEND requirements and the whole site is ideal for wheelchair users, with free parking and dogs allowed on leads, too.

The cherry on the lake? The waterside café, run by locally-renowned Cornish Food Hub. Enjoy artisan coffee and homemade cakes with a view or indulge in delectable deli brunches all morning before the gourmet lunch menu from midday. Open seven days a week to the general public, Chef Andrei plates each mouthful to perfection. Private dining options are available for evenings or special occasions – sit inside and dine or eat al fresco on the lakeside deck or a picnic-table on the beach. You’ve just found your new favourite eatery beside the not-so-secret lake.
