The journey so far

We catch up with Zeb Gethen, founder of Falmouth’s new boutique salon, Zebrafinch Hair.

Located in the heart of Falmouth, Zebrafinch Hair is just up the road from Events Square and has a spacious and welcoming interior. Zeb tells us: “Falmouth is such a vibrant and creative town, I’m proud to be living here, and to be part of the community.” As you walk into the salon, you’re greeted with beautiful heritage colours, character features and classic furniture. The chalky blue walls are adorned with large mirrors and old-fashioned framed photos, giving a vintage feel to the studio. Zeb continues: “I’ve worked hard to create a relaxing and calm space for my clients.”

Open a year in September, Zebrafinch has progressed hugely so far. Zeb tells us: “It’s been a great journey! The response and support I’ve had from the people of Falmouth and further afield in Cornwall has been amazing.” Having moved to Cornwall after building up experience in other parts of the UK, Zeb has a wealth of talent to bring to the table and plans to share some of his hairdressing skills online with tutorial videos. Zeb explains: “I’ve had a focus on social media over the last few months as it’s a great way to show people what I’m about and what I can do in the studio.”

One of Zeb’s main focuses in the salon is styling hair for weddings. He tells us: “Weddings will be a prime focus for the business over the next year, I can work in the studio or out on location to be as flexible as possible for the wedding party!” Clearly Zeb is happy to go the extra mile for your special day. As well as creating beautiful wedding hair, Zeb’s also been working with other creative businesses around the county.

“I’ve been getting involved in photo shoots around Cornwall,” explains Zeb, “working with some amazing local creatives and look forward to doing this more and more.” Throwing himself into life in Cornwall, Zeb’s business has progressed in leaps and bounds and we look forward to what the future brings for this elegant and unique salon.
