Hostelry on the hill

The Lemon Arms

Mylor’s hidden location makes it the perfect spot for a creekside walk. The peace and tranquillity of the area means it’s a haven for wildlife, so ideal for nature lovers looking to stretch their legs. One of our favourites is to walk from Mylor Bridge, along Mylor Creek and then around to Restronguet Weir and back. This lovely circular walk always works up an appetite and so we can recommend refuelling at the Lemon Arms. The daily specials board complements a menu of great pub classics, local ales on tap and a dog-friendly beer garden.

Cosy Killigrew alehouse

Originally established as The Stonemasons Arms in 1861, this has been a well-known and loved Falmouth hostelry for many years.

Today, Matt, Elli, Debby and the team welcome you to enjoy The Moth & The Moon, their lovingly refurbished, cosy Killigrew Street alehouse. Set over two floors, with a pavement terrace to the front and sun-trap beer garden to the rear, you can expect to sample the best Cornish beers and ciders alongside a carefully curated selection of wines, and lovingly made cocktails.

Furry friends welcome

Southpaw Dog Store is a canine utopia of treats, toys, life jackets, cooling vests, warm coats, harnesses, handmade leads, collars and beds, which can be made to order and delivered to your door, so there’s no need to worry about cramming everything into the car! There are portable showers to wash off sandy paws after a day at the beach, and even a doggie bike seat, so your furry friend need never be left behind. Most of the items in the store are sourced from UK independent companies; many are handmade and some are made right here in Cornwall. If a bath is on the cards after a muddy walk in the woods, why not try some cleansing shampoo filled with natural essential oils? Dogs deserve a spa day too! With an extensive range of Ruffwear gear, you’ll find everything you need for a coastal hike. Southpaw offers a free fitting service for all harnesses, so your dog will leave snug and secure. And of course, there’s always a full jar of treats on the counter!

Evolutionary eats

The Mulberry

This being their first restaurant, Harry and Jay, owners of The Mulberry, are understandably thrilled to have won Muddy Stilettos’ ‘Best Restaurant in Cornwall’ award for two years running! Between them, they share a passion for championing hyper local produce, drawing on the riches of amazing suppliers in the Falmouth area. These include veg from Patrick’s Patch and Soul Farm, shellfish from nearby Sailors Creek, and more.

Anybody who’s visited the maritime hub in Falmouth of late will know that its foodie scene is evolving at a rate of knots. From Cornish classics like pasties, to outdoor tapas tables and hand-thrown pizzas, there’s something for every taste and fancy in Falmouth. Arguably, The Mulberry is at the helm of this culinary evolution, and with its latest offer of a five-course tasting menu at lunchtimes between Wednesday and Saturday, there’s never been a better time to discover how.
