A warm welcome to Truro
As Wendron Stoves opens an impressive new showroom in the big city, we catch up with Director Nathan Ward to discover more.
It was the great Roman sage, Cicero, who once remarked: “There is no place more welcoming than one’s own fireplace,” a sentiment we hold dear to our hearts here at Cornwall Living. After all, following a day relaxing on the beach or a brisk amble across the coast path, what could possibly be better than returning to the comfort of your own home, snuggling up with a well-thumbed book and glass of wine by the fireside? Particularly as summer subsides to make way for autumn, the warming glow of a fire is the perfect remedy for the soul.
“There is no place more welcoming than one’s own fireplace.” – Cicero, 106 to 43BC
This philosophy is at the very core of Wendron Stoves, an independent family-run business that has been bringing warmth to Cornwall and beyond for over three decades. The business has come a long way since its early days in the 1980s, when founder and Managing Director Nathan Ward first began installing wood-burning stoves locally.
Of course, fireplaces are as much interior design statements as they are heat providers, and making the right choice for a room – both stylistically and in terms of efficiency – is crucial. The Wendron Stoves team draw on their comprehensive experience and product range to ensure that they can cater for practically every taste and requirement. Indeed, service is just as important as the products themselves, which is why Nathan and his team pride themselves on their pedigree and experience in initial consultation and advice, installation, and aftercare.
We catch up with Nathan, who tells us more about the new showroom. “We’re really excited to be bringing Wendron Stoves to Truro,” says Nathan. “It’s a vibrant, bustling city and we feel it’s important to promote our town centres, by investing in Truro and its people.” For a while, Nathan has been looking out for the perfect location to bring Wendron Stoves to the city. “It turned out to be quite fitting, as we’ve moved into the old AGA shop – it’s the right place to be!” You’ll find the new showroom on Quay Street next to the Old Ale House, just around the corner from Lemon Quay.
So what can we expect? “First and foremost, you’ll receive the very same warm welcome you can always expect from us, the attention to detail and expert advice. On display instore we have working range cookers by Everhot and Lacanche. We also have a brand new cookware range, including beautiful copper saucepans from De Buyer, and are showcasing many beautiful stoves and fireplaces from prestigious brands including Chesneys, Chilli Penguin and Contura. Please do pop in and say hello!”
We’re looking forward to paying a visit ourselves, and if Wendron Stoves’ existing legacy is anything to go by, we won’t leave disappointed!
