A country house wedding
Scorrier House & Gardens
Scorrier House’s Grand Hall provides a breathtaking theatre in which to get married. Or, on a hot summer’s day, why not tie the knot outside in the estate’s beautiful 10-acre garden? Scorrier’s sheer size exempts the need for a marquee; instead, the Grand Hall can seat 120 and the Drawing Room is simply perfect for your first dance. There’s also accommodation for up to 20 and being just moments from the coast, you couldn’t ask for a better backdrop for those all-important photos.
A verdant venue
Tucked away in the countryside between Falmouth and Truro, Enys Gardens – considered to be some of the oldest in the Duchy – make a unique wedding reception venue that’s perfect for a creative couple. The derelict yet enchanting manor house, located within the gardens, has capacity for 200 guests and is available to hire for wedding receptions and blessings throughout the year. Hire of the house includes access to the largely wild and tranquil gardens and there’s even space for a marquee on the old tennis court.
Just two minutes’ drive from the harbour town of Porthleven, you’ll find Beacon Crag, a one-of-a-kind bed and breakfast perched on the cliffs of Cornwall’s south coast. Set within five acres of private grounds, the newly licensed wedding venue boasts staggering views across the sea and rugged cliffscape with its own access to the rocky coves below, while its terraced gardens are perfect for a marquee reception with ocean views. It’s a wildly romantic place to wed, whether the stormy seas are crashing or the sun is glinting on calm waters.
Sea view splendour
If you want a small, intimate wedding in an unrivalled setting, C-Bay at Crantock, near Newquay, is perfect. Winston Graham wrote some of his Poldark books here, inspired by its stunning, romantic backdrop. Newly extended and offering excellent food and drink, C-Bay is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies for a maximum of 20 people, and receptions for up to 40 guests. Spectacular, exclusive and with a variety of packages available, it is simply a magical place in which to say ‘I do’.
