IMS PRUSSIA COVE: SPRING CONCERTS

For over 50 years, the International Musicians Seminar (IMS) has operated from its home at Prussia Cove, near Penzance. IMS run two classical music seminars each year, which attract the very best young artists in the world to study and rehearse with acclaimed international performers. Under the Artistic Direction of renowned cellist Steven Isserlis, IMS Prussia Cove has a reputation for excellence, and is cherished and revered throughout the classical music world. The Spring Masterclass Seminar welcomes over 120 of today’s best musicians, drawn from across the world, to study and rehearse. The musicians give public concerts across Penwith during the Seminar, with free tickets for under 25s. Cornwall abstract expressionist artist Dean, whose work is represented by Old Bank Gallery in Fowey, works in oils, acrylics and alcohol inks, often in large formats.
He started painting at a young age. “I was only ever really moved by expressionism and abstract art,” he admits, “I admire the work of many artists, from Picasso to Jackson Pollock and more recently, Bob Dylan.” Dean’s biggest inspiration is his love of blues, jazz rock and R&B. “Music is a constant in my life and inspires everything I paint.”
