Running daily from the Padstow area, Cornish Wine Tours allow you to taste the best of Cornwall’s wine, without the worry or hassle of driving. Dreamt up by local wine enthusiast and founder Kate McBurnie, she tells us: “My aim is to provide guests with a relaxed day of wine tasting accompanied by delicious food without the worry of logistics.” Guests are collected in the morning and driven to each location throughout the course of the day, getting to taste a vast array of award-winning wine at each stop, and then finishing with lunch overlooking the vines.
The tours themselves will be guided with Kate on hand to answer any questions you may have, and to talk you through the wine tasting as you go. Kate tells us: “I want my guests to have the best day, and for them to feel at ease in my company. It’s a really relaxed experience where you have the opportunity to taste the wines without any pressure, and to really discover what you love!”
Kate continues: “The day is geared towards anyone with an interest in the local wines. I want my guests to leave feeling like they’ve had an enjoyable experience and if that’s coupled with a new found passion for Cornish wine then all the better!”
Vineyards that feature on the regular tour include, Camel Valley, Trevibban Mill, Knightor Winery and Bosue, and throughout the year Kate runs separate events with Polgoon Vineyard near Penzance. Enjoy lunch on the tour at either Appletons restaurant, or the winery bar overlooking the vines at Trevibban Mill. There are so many different wines to suit every palate from sparkling to still, white and red, that you will find it difficult to pick a favourite.
