The budding new film stars of St Ives

Just one visit to sunny St Ives and you’ll be wishing you could be there all the time. Well the good news is: you can be… sort of! Wherever you find yourself in the world, you can sample a flavour of the popular seaside town in just a few clicks, simply by logging onto the fab new webcam set up by luxury self-catering holiday company, Aspects Holidays. Overlooking the harbour, watch the comings and goings as holidaymakers perch on benches, admiring the golden sand, tuck into pasties and ice creams, and chat merrily as the boats bob up and down gently in the background.

Already the webcam has been proving hugely popular, with over 100,000 views in August alone. Visitors are having fun joining in with the action, with many waving to their friends and family back home in a novel form of ‘live video postcard’.

If you’re thinking of taking a trip to St Ives today, why not have a look at the webcam now, to give you a bit of inspiration and see what you’re missing? And once you’re there, go find the webcam on the beach yourself and give us all a big wave!

Money well spent?

Alongside failure to adopt preventative measures, like regular exercise, many of us fail to insure ourselves against the financial impact of serious illness. The potential for physical and financial frailty is underlined by the fact that, each year, almost one million working people unexpectedly have to give up work because of injury or illness.1 However, research suggests that two fifths of consumers have never even thought about what they would do if forced to stop working by a long-term illness or injury.2

Income protection can replace lost income when an individual is forced to stop work due to illness or injury. Some employers will provide cover, but there is no such provision for the self-employed. Having income protection enables households to maintain income levels if the main earner has to
stop work.

While it is thankfully true that not everyone will experience a serious illness or injury, none of us know if it will happen to us.

Capture the moment with photographer Laura Buffery

Do you have an upcoming event – perhaps your long awaited big day – that you would like photographed? Or maybe you’d like some professional family portraits to treasure forever? Then speak to Laura Buffery-Martin, who produces stunning, beautifully observed photos that will perfectly capture the moment.

“I have always loved photographing people”, explains Laura. “Never had I thought about making a living from it until an old friend’s sister asked me to document her wedding 15 years ago. I did so thinking it was a one-off, not realising at the time it was the beginning of a very exciting adventure. Weddings are amazing to photograph. To capture the day and tell its story through my cameras is such an honour to be entrusted with.”

Laura continues: “Family photo shoots are always so much fun too, having all the family together instead of one always missing taking the shots makes it very special for everyone.”

To see more of Laura’s photographs, take a look at her recently-launched new website, showcasing all her recent work from weddings, on-location family portraits, commissions and product shoots.

The Anevay team plant a tree for every stove sold

Cornish company Anevay has partnered with the International Tree Foundation to plant a tree for every stove it sells. As if this wasn’t enough, the team are also getting their hands dirty closer to home, pitching in to plant 500 trees around Cornwall.

General Manager Holly says: “We love that wood is a carbon-neutral fuel, and we wanted to go one further. Not only are  we planting a tree for every stove we sell, we’re planting one for every stove we’ve ever sold or donated as aid.”

This month Anevay launches the new design of its classic small-space woodburner, the Traveller Stove. Even more compact with the same heat output, the Traveller Stove’s unique design means that you can cook on the stove as well as heating.

Visit the Anevay website for recipes, pictures and more info on its wonderful tree-planting initiative. For more information, see www.anevay.co.uk
