Only two shopping weekends until Christmas…at Trevince anyway!
What says Christmas more than a visit to a stunning Cornish country house, roaring fires warming your soul as you peruse three rooms packed with beautiful artisan produce? If this sounds enticing, then a Country House Christmas at Trevince is just the thing for you.
Trevince stands proudly at the top of a curved gravel driveway where once carriages brought visitors to the house. Its owners, Trish and Richard Stone, have scoured the globe to source beautiful products for their new venture: a seasonal shop and café at Trevince. For two weekends only, they are showcasing local artisans among an astounding array of gifts from Europe, north America, the UK and Ireland.
“We hope our visitors will enjoy the experience of Christmas shopping in our home”, says Trish, who is spearheading the new venture. “Christmas shopping on the high street can be very stressful; we are offering a great alternative, with a more relaxed and cosy atmosphere.”
Local artisans will be displaying textile products, silver jewellery, wood-carved utensils and hand-made leather goods. The fabulous goodies include beautiful silk and velvet accessories from local textile artist, Rachel Stowe; feather creations from local milliner, Holly Young; unique silver jewellery from two of Cornwall’s most talented silversmiths, Nicola Bottono and Anna Pope; delicious Trevince Christmas puddings, and much more. The drawing room, library and three storey hall at Trevince will be transformed into a wonderland of gifts and home décor, while the dining room will become a cosy café where shoppers can relax and have a frothy cappuccino, light lunch or afternoon tea.
Local builders, painters, stonemasons, ironworkers and woodworkers are helping to prepare the house for the grand opening on 25th November. ‘There’s always something that needs attention in an old house”, says Richard Stone, whose family has lived at Trevince for generations. “Just when you think you’ve finished, you have to start at the beginning again, like the Forth Bridge!”
So make your yuletide complete this year with a visit to Trevince’s magical Country House Christmas.
