Trewardale House …’dwelling in the valley’

Trewardale, home to Vicky and Charles Edward-Collins is a Grade II* Georgian country house located on the edge of Bodmin Moor.

The house has been in the family for over 400 years but is now opening its doors as a wedding and events venue.  An official opening launch party, by invitation only, will take place on Wednesday 26th September to celebrate the launch of the new website.

The house and garden retain much of their original historic exterior and interior charm and provide a stunning photo shoot location or wedding venue. Companies that have used the location in the past for photo shoots include: Fred Perry; Burberry and Scotch House.

Vicky and Charles took on the estate in the 1980’s and as well as farming have hosted a number of events.  They both have a passion for the countryside, hosting and hospitality.

Their son George and daughter Harriet have both been married at Trewardale and as a natural progression they have decided this year to promote their home as a venue for events and weddings.

Trewardale, Cornish for ‘dwelling in the valley’ was built in 1763 and came into the Collins family by the mid-17th Century. However records show there has been a dwelling at Trewardale since Domesday. In the early 1900’s the estate spanned the three parishes of Blisland, St Breward and Temple with six holdings attached.  In the early 20th Century these were sold leaving 150 acres of farmland which forms part of the estate today.

Blisland Village is one mile east and is famous for its Norman Church which was restored in 1894 by Rev. Vernon Collins, first cousin to Charles’ great grandfather; it was also one of John Betjeman’s favourites.

The south facing lawn at the front of the house with glorious views of rolling Cornish countryside will be offered as a venue for weddings and can accommodate up to 200 guests.  The spacious, bridal suite overlooking the marquee combines comfort with elegance.  Features include exclusive access to the Gardens, Bridal Suite, Drawing Room and Hallway.

For those wanting to fulfil their dream of a romantic English country wedding, Trewardale has everything to offer.   Lucy Edward-Collins, daughter-in-law to Vicky and Charles, will be happy to offer all the help required to ensure it all runs smoothly on the day.

Charles thinks that Trewardale offers a ‘relaxed country house feel combined with home-from-home comforts’.

It is very much a family home and the owners guarantee you a warm welcome’.

All weddings booked in 2012 will receive a 50% discount, prices start from £500 (including discount), for the hire of the venue only.
