Bird song at it’s best

Silent disco technology makes SCRAWW the must see landscape performance of the year.

This summer the birds of the world are gathering at Trebah Garden; join the flock on an epic quest to find the legendary Simorgh bird. SCRAWW is a feather fuelled, technically immersive and family-friendly journey into Persian poetry that gets you to explore Trebah’s beautiful garden in a new and unique way.

“A genre-bending operatic and digital piece of pure perfection!”

Presented by Trebah and Gaggle Haus, the epic Persian tale is told via an immersive soundtrack created by international sound designer and composer Max Pappenheim. Audiences will don ‘silent disco’ style headphones, join a flock and put on their feathers as they get led through the garden, experiencing live performance blended with Max’s score. Paths and plots twist as the flock moves through this truly immersive soundscape before reaching the finale on Trebah’s picturesque private beach. Combining the magical surroundings of the garden with a captivating tale of birds and music, and promising to be a truly enchanting experience.

SCRAWW is an exciting co-production, introducing international talent to the landscape and performing arts sector of Cornwall. One audience member has said of the production that it is: “A genre-bending operatic and digital piece of pure perfection!” The Gaggle Haus team includes Director Anna Pool (opera, theatre and music maker), Lila Palmer (librettist) and Anna Driftmeir (scenographer and production designer) – a team of acclaimed makers who have worked across Europe and in the United States, and who promise to deliver a truly remarkable performance.

Trebah is already established as a cultural hub, with a growing reputation for its performances, which are staged within the 300-seat amphitheatre. The amphitheatre is nestled at the heart of the garden and annually hosts various productions, which are sure to entrance and impress even the most discerning theatre-goers. In the past, these performances have featured landscape and vertical dance, puppetry, pyrotechnics and pure playful performance. However, never before has the garden seen anything like SCRAWW. Book your tickets today and discover the magical world of plants, adventure and mesmerising beauty of Trebah Garden and the immersive realm of birds and Persian tales that you’ll listen to as you explore.
