Light up a life

Join Cornwall Hospice Care this Christmas in lighting a candle in fond festive memory.

Christmas is synonymous with celebration, joy and laughter, yet for some, when they have lost someone treasured, it can also be a time of great sadness. This Christmas, the team at Cornwall Hospice Care invite you to join them to remember loved ones in a collective act of remembrance during which you can look back fondly on the memories made at Christmas’s past.

“This year I’m pleased to say we can be together once again after the pandemic put a stop to the 2020 event. We’ll gather in the stunning surroundings of Truro Cathedral on Sunday 5th December at 7pm,” explains Oli Hoare, Head of Fundraising. “The service will be led by Reverend Canon Alan Bashforth and will include readings from our hospice nurses and music by local choirs, whilst the names of loved ones will be displayed in our special remembrance film in the Quire. Candles, representing all the lives we are remembering, will be lit throughout the service until the cathedral is full of light.”

To place your dedication, please visit www.cornwallhospicecare.co.uk/lightupalife. Dedications will feature during the service as well as within the Book of Remembrance and afterwards in the online book.

“In a new development for 2021, the service will also be live streamed, so you can still enjoy this lovely remembrance event while lighting a candle of your own at home,” concludes Oli. “All are welcome to remember together and you’ll be warmly welcomed.”
